Team Lamborghini Vancouver & Lamborghini Calgary take pole positions at Round 9

Round 9 of the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series

Round 9 of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series at Road Atlanta kicked off yesterday with an incredible two pole positions from both Lamborghini Vancouver and Lamborghini Calgary! Recognized as one the world’s best road courses – this multi-purpose motor sports facility is situated on 750 park-like acres in the rolling hills of Northeast Georgia. The day was one of highs and lows for the team. A spin near the end of the second qualifying session had the team banding together in an effort to repair the No. 89 Lamborghini of Vancouver entry driven by Amateur point’s leader Ryan Ockey. With the team in high spirits after getting the car finished in time for the start of the race, an early lap incident involving Tom O’Gara brought out a caution and eventual red flag for cleanup. O’Gara was alert and responsive before being transported to a local area hospital for back pain. Team members including co-driver Brian Wong as well as the Ockey brothers and race winners, Richard Antinucci and Edoardo Piscopo, cheered O’Gara up with news of the win.

Damon Ockey, scored his second Amateur win of the season in the No. 09 Lamborghini Calgary. “It was a little difficult to race like that, when you’re stopping so much. But I started in P2 and got behind my brother (Ryan Ockey), and he was having some difficulty because of the crash he had in qualifying. So I was being held up, came into the pits a little earlier than him, and when I came out, I tried to put down a couple of fast laps while he was in the pits, and I was able to pass him without any battle, just through the pit. Great race. The team had a perfect car for me, great setup. A fun, fun race.”

Amateur point’s leader, Ryan Ockey, continued his season-long podium streak in the No. 89 Lamborghini of Vancouver car. “After qualifying, putting my car into the wall, I didn’t think I was going to race. My team did an amazing job of getting the car ready. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to finish the setup, so the car wasn’t set up quite as well as it was for qualifying, which meant that we weren’t able to be as quick as we were in qualifying. But I got to race, which was fantastic, and my team deserves all the kudos for that. It was awesome. But it was fun racing and I did get to race and score important points, which was the important thing. My team was incredible, thank you again.”

Massive congratulations guys and best of luck in the next round! Round 10 of the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo is October 2nd at 5:10 p.m ET.You can watch all the action on: Blancpain Super Trofeo Live Coverage
