EPIC. This is the only word we can use to describe last weeks GIRO Canada 2017.
21 Lamborghini’s set off from our Lamborghini Calgary showroom on a 4-night, 5-day legendary road trip. 1500km, remarkable scenery, new friendships, new memories…. a truly once in a lifetime experience that will not be forgotten.
The first day began early on Wednesday morning with drivers arriving for an Italian-themed breakfast at our showroom at 8.00 am. Breakfast was followed by a driver’s meeting to sum up our day and to answer any questions drivers may have had. At 9.00 am we set off towards our first destination across the US border. The road to the border was a fun one, up through East Glacier Park, drivers saw exceptional views and turns that required quick thinking and skill. Shortly after crossing the border into Montana, our first stop was lunch at the Snowgoose Grill in St. Mary. Word spread fast, and as drivers were getting ready to head out a crowd gathered with eager spectators taking pictures and asking about every detail of each bull.
Next, we pressed on through more windy roads before reaching our first overnight destination, the Firebrand Hotel in Whitefish, MT. After a relaxed welcome reception at the hotel, drivers headed off to their rooms to prepare for dinner. Transportation to our dinner destination was unique one, a bright-yellow school bus branded with “Automobili Lamborghini.” After a group photo, we set off to fantastic dinner at Cafe Kandahar and wound-down the night in preparation for day two.
The drive from Montana into Idaho was picturesque to say the least. Incredible roads with countryside and mountainous views made us breathless. Our first stop was at the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch in Idaho. We were greeted by Dusty, a beautiful and calm horse, ready to lead us onto the property. After a proper country-style lunch, complete with biscuits and baked beans we continued onto our final destination.
Our overnight stop, the Coeur d’Alene Resort, was unimaginable. A world renowned destination for vacation, business, romance, and fun, overlooking a stunning blue lake. Our welcome reception found us on the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene surrounded by idyllic landscapes. After our reception, guests went to their water view suites and prepared for a black and white themed dinner at a surprise location. The surprise was a classic Coeur d’Alene cruise that took us around the lake while we enjoyed a fantastic Italian-themed dinner.
Our night was complete with a group night-cap at Beverly’s, the lounge at Coeur d’Alene Resort.
The next day arrived sunny and hot. Another beautiful drive came to a stop over for lunch at Tendrils Restaurant; located at the breathtaking estate vineyards of Cave B Inn & Spa. On route to our lunch destination, the gang stopped off along the way to visit our special friend Jada. A serious car enthusiast with a love for Lamorghinis, Jadas dream came true when 22 cars rolled up to her front door. Kitted with a Squadra Corse jacket and a Lamborghini hat Jada took to the streets of Quincy in a Verde Mantis Huracan Spyder to show off to her friends and classmates. She was the talk of the town when we left!
Following this special moment, the group convoyed on towards the Gorge and Columbia river and took in the breathtaking landscapes that led us to our lunch stop, Guests enjoyed phenomenal views of the vineyards and its surrounding mountains and relished in a hearty Italian pasta lunch in a magnificent pavilion.
Our drive continued to overnight destination, the Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie, WA. Nestled on a cliff overlooking a majestic waterfall, drivers enjoyed a beautiful welcome reception. Of course, it could not be complete without back and shoulder massages for relief from a long drive. After settling into their suites, drivers joined us for another fantastic dinner on The Falls Terrace once again overlooking the great waterfall.
On day four we were embraced by another cloudless day. In preparation for a busy drive ahead, drivers had a big breakfast before setting off towards our first stop of the day.
Our first stop saw us head into Downtown Seattle and to the Automobili Lamborghini Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory (ACSL). It was many of our drivers first visit and they were taken by the technology that goes into the production of each bull. After a tour of the ACSL, we headed towards our next stop of the day – a surprise to everyone. After a quick drive to our next location, drivers were greeted by another type of beast. A collection of airplanes with a long history awaited us at Seattle’s Museum of Flight. Drivers had several tastes of Seattle while they dined under the wings of a great Concord. After a fantastic lunch under a Boeing 747 wing, we had a tour of the museum before heading off to our final overnight stop of the trip.
At the new and modern Thompson Hotel, right by renowned Pike Place, drivers found themselves in the centre of Seattle. After enjoying some of the REAL Seattle, guests came together for dinner in the hotel. Our evening was complete with a presentation from World Housing, the organization we chose to support with GIRO Canada. World Housing provides homes to families living in slums in the developing world. They foster communities where families can thrive with safety, security, and access to the resources that change lives. Lamborghini Vancouver & Calgary has personally contributed to their most recent housing project in Haiti: donating a home to a family in need. We are happy to announce that we have received several commitments from our guests to build more homes in Haiti. Day five was our final day, full of goodbyes and see-you-later’s. Some guests departed straight to their homes and some joined us in a final convoy to our Lamborghini Vancouver showroom. This final drive took us through the beautiful Chuckanut Road. In Vancouver, we were met by some showers as we reached the end of journey. One final filling lunch and birthday cake for a special guest at the showroom saw the very end of GIRO Canada 2017!
Finally, the entire Lamborghini Vancouver & Calgary would like to express their utmost gratitude to those that joined us on this adventure. Without the support of our guests, this event would truly not be possible. A special thanks to our film and photography crew Sapphire Creative & Blake Jennings. They worked relentlessly to capture world class footage! We look forward to more adventures together in the future and hope you do too.
Pre-Registration will be available for GIRO Canada 2018 in January 2018.
